In recent developments, on Monday, August 31, the Western Railways and the Central Railways announced that the JEE and NEET aspirants will be permitted to use the special train services with parents or guardians on the day of the examinations in order to travel to their respective exam centres.

Additionally, the station and security officials at the stations have been instructed to permit the students on the exam days after checking the admit cards, which are to act as documentation to allow students to use the suburban railways. Moreover, booking counters will be open at important railway stations for the convenience of the aspirants.

Meanwhile, the JEE Main examinations are set to begin from September 1 defying pleas of several students and ministers to postpone the examinations amidst the coronavirus outbreak. Moreover, the NEET examination is touted to take place on September 13.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier listed guidelines that should be followed in order to safely conduct the entrance examinations NEET and JEE in the month of September. The steps the agency are touted to take are expanding the number of examination centres, alternate seating plan, fewer candidates per room and staggered entry and exit. These rules are being introduced keeping in view the ongoing pandemic in a bid to adhere to the social distancing norms.
