Alok Kansal, General Manager of the Western Railways, conducted a surprise visit to the Churchgate station on Sunday, August 16.

He conducted this visit in view of the cleanliness drive being conducted in the station. According to senior officials, Kansal took charge of the mechanized cleaning machine and undertook the cleaning of the concourse area at Churchgate.

Moreover, as per reports, he interacted with the commuters who travel by the Western Railways and enquired about the adequate measures that are being undertaken to ensure sanitization, social distancing, provision of a QR code, etc.

Earlier, in order to ensure that people are not running out of safety essentials, vending machines had been installed in several places which provided the medical protection kit - masks, sanitizers and gloves.

These essentials were made available at the Mumbai railway station. The mask and sanitizer vending machine were installed at the Dadar Railway Station. This machine works just like any other vending machine. In order to receive an item, people have to put in the money in the machine and get the item by entering the code of the item you want.

There are different types of masks available in this machine as well. Face masks ranging from one-time masks to N95 masks are said to be available. Apart from this, citizens can also get hand sanitizers for ₹50 to ₹100. Furthermore, gloves are being available at reasonable prices.
