In Mumbai, the G/North Ward, which includes the areas of Dharavi, Dadar and Mahim, is the third worst-hit COVID-19 ward out of the 24 administrative wards under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Dharavi, which was once a hotspot for the deadly virus has now become one of the least dangerous places in the city. As per the civic body, Dharavi has only recorded nine new cases on Monday, and there are just 98 active cases in the area. 

However, the neighbouring areas of Dadar and Mahim have recently seen a surge in the coronavirus cases. On Monday, Dadar recorded 29 new positive cases, taking the total tally of the area to 1,647. So far, there are at least 454 active cases in Dadar. Mahim reported 16 fresh coronavirus cases taking the tally in the area up to 1,621. Mahim so far has 219 active patients under treatment. 

With this sudden rise in the area, the BMC has started to provide free testing for the residents of Dadar and Mahim area. The civic body’s G/North Division Office has started a free coronavirus inspection center on the ground floor of Kohinoor Public Park in Dadar. Citizens with COVID-19 symptoms can get themselves tested free of cost. 

In order to get tested, the residents will first have to contact the G-North Division ward room (Phone no. 022-24210441). After that, the resident's name will be reported at the inspection center. It is also mandatory for residents to carry their Aadhaar cards along with them as an address proof. 

On Monday, Mumbai reported 1,012 fresh cases, taking the city's caseload to 1,10,182. With 39 new deaths in the past 24 hours, the city's death toll has reached 6,132. So far, there are 21,812 active cases in the city. With 1,706 patients being discharged in the last 24 hours, the number of recovered patients have gone up to 81,944 in the city, as per the civic body.
