The year 2020 has been difficult for all of us due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, however, as the world continues to battle the pandemic, voluntary COVID-19 gratitude art takes shape in Mumbai which has been dedicated to the warriors across India battling the pandemic.

According to a press release, suburban railway stations of Mumbai suburban network are being beautified as a tribute to the coronavirus warriors who have battled the dangerous disease. This initiative has been taken by the NGO Project Mumbai in partnership with Central and Western Railways.

Moreover, in total, there are 41 stations who are a part of this initiative. In the first phase, four stations on the Central Railway, namely, Mulund, Ghatkopar, Kurla and Matunga are to be painted.

Shri Sanjeev Mittal, General Manager, Central Railway, speaking to the media, appreciated the initiative which has several unique elements like artists, students, and children who have contributed to this artwork by taking time out during the pandemic. He further cherished the paintings by the children from the municipal and private schools. Moreover, the Matunga station is painted with tributes to women as it is the first all-women staff railway station in India, he informed.

Mumbai has always displayed a deep sense of giving back. Salaam Rakshak as an initiative happens to be one of the massive ways to express the gratitude towards the people who are fighting the coronavirus.
