Ranveer and Alia launch the trailer of Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy

The trailer of Zoya Akhtar's much-awaited film, Gully Boy, was released today at an event in Mumbai.

Based on the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy,  this film (also) written by Zoya Akhtar, stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The makers and the actors recently released the posters of the film and a teaser with Ranveer's rap, both of which have successfully caught audience's attention.

Film's lead Ranveer Singh opened the event with a rap - a passion which he has been following since 2011. Talking about the film, at the launch, Ranveer said, "Only I wanted to do this film, and it is coming together of too many things - rap, hip hop music, Mumbai and a lot of other things. Zoya is special to me and has an important part of my life."

The director of the film, Zoya, spoke about the film and said "I was editing Dil Dhadakne Do in 2014 when my editor showed Naezy's video called Gully Rap. That pushed me and brought me to what this film is today." 

Alia shared her experience by adding, "This film has been one of the best experience. They are a fantastic team as they on point with everything. The film is raw and comes straight from the heart. The vibe on the set was great and it was a crazy ride."

The film has been shot largely in Mumbai and has been produced by Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Productions. Besides Ranveer and Alia, Gully Boy also stars Kalki Koechlin and Vijay Raaz. It will hit the theatres on February 19, 2019.
