Bollywood actress, Kiara Advani, has earned a lot of appreciation with her work, be it through Dhoni, Lust Stories or other films, in her 5-year career so far. She will be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor in Kabir Singh, and also has a long list of films in 2019-2020. In an interaction with the media, during the promotions of Kabir Singh, Kiara shares a lot about her journey, films, life and more.

Talking firstly about the number of projects she has in hand, she said, “I’m excited about the phase I’m currently living, as I’m constantly occupied with work. I have two releases this year, and this feels very good that I’m working back to back. My parents want to plan holidays, but I don’t have time, and I feel so good about being lucky to have work in hand.”

Sharing more thoughts about her role in Kabir Singh, she said, “Playing a character so nuanced and internalized was refreshing. My character ‘Preeti’ is very unlike Kabir (played by Shahid Kapoor) or my real life for that matter. Preeti is silent, sensitive and has a different body language. It was challenging, especially when there were no dialogues and I had to express only through expressions and emotions. I had to cut off from what I thought as Kiara, and it was wonderful to play this role. It was tough to come out of the character I played.”

The film talks about the tough and crucial phase of being dejected. While it sheds light on depression, mental state, and self-destruction, it also strives to share a message through the story. Adding more to it, Kiara said, “We all want someone who loves unconditionally. Some issues can be addressed, but self-destruction is unacceptable. Everybody goes through heartbreaks, and it is a part of life. So one needs to talk it out to friends and family and to vent it out. This is the message we wanted to share with the film.”

There are many actors today who prefer to have another plan, in case their attempt in the entertainment industry fails. With increasing competition, many aspiring actors had to face rejection, with many years of tough struggle. On being asked if she too had to deal with mental stress due to her difficult days in the career initially, she said, “I stepped into Bollywood in 2014 with Fugly, and for some reason the film did not work, which made me worried. I was not being offered any role and I was concerned if I would be able to do a second film. The career in films was a question, and I constantly thought if everything would turn out the way I want it to. But I believed in myself, my skills and all I wanted was one more opportunity. My parents kept supporting me and asked me to continue the usual process and groom myself more with additional skills. It helped me improve myself, and I continued to audition, thereby keeping myself prepared. Finally, Dhoni and Lust Stories happened, and here I’m today with my career. Lust Stories was the turning point in my career as it gave me an opportunity to perform. People until then did not recognize me, but after lust stories, people knew that I could act. I never had plan B and, all I wanted to do always, was acting.”

Kiara will soon be seen in Good News this year and will be a part of Laxmmi Bomb, Shershaah and Indoo Ki Jawani next year.
