Manoj Bajpayee starrer Bhonsle wins 2 awards at Barcelona festival

Directed by Devashish Makhija, and revolves around a police constable and deals with the issues faced by Migrants

Manoj Bajpayee who was recently seen in the much talked about Amazon series Family Man has another reason to be happy. His critically acclaimed movie "Bhonsle" has won prestigious awards at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona.

For those unaware, Bhonsle is directed by Devashish Makhija, and revolves around a police constable played by Manoj. In this movie, he helps in the struggles of migrants and their battles with the local politicians. It also addresses the concerns of various ethnic groups and highlights the issues that they face in order to survive in a city like Mumbai, away from their home.

Bhonsle has bagged two awards., one in the ‘Best Screenplay' category and also in the ‘Best Director' category at the festival.

The movie was premiered in the 'A Window on Asian Cinema' section of the 2018 Busan International Film Festival. It was also screened at MAMI Film Festival, 2018 Dharamshala Film Festival, the 2019 International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Bengaluru International Film Festival and the Singapore South Asian International film festival. It is yet to release in India.
