Currently, a message is going viral on social media, which states that banks across India, will remain shut for five days, starting from March 29, 2018 to April 2, 2018. However, the banks have dismissed the rumours.


Which message is doing rounds?

The message states that on the account of bank holidays, i.e., Mahavir Jayanti (March 29), Good Friday (March 30), Closing Day (March 31), April 1 and April 2 (Year closing), banks will remain shut. It further states that people should complete their bank related work before March 29, 2018.


Banks will remain shut on Thursday and Friday on the account of Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday. On April 1, 2018, few branches will remain open to collect government tax and will also remain open on March 31, as it is fifth Saturday. And on April 2, the banks will remain closed for year-end closing work,” Vishwaas Utgi, Former vice-president of All India Bank Employees Association.
