Reliance Jio, yesterday announced that it will be charging its customers for phone calls made to other rival operators at 6 paise/minute. It also went on to add that it will compensate them by giving free data of equal value.
Under the current Interconnect charge regime, calls to other networks from Jio will be charged at 6 paise per minute. These charges will not apply on all Jio to Jio calls, all incoming calls, Jio to landline calls and calls made using WhatsApp, Telegram or FaceTime or any such app-based callings.
So far it is not clear on how Reliance Jio will compensate people with data for these calls. However, consumers are not very happy with this move of Reliance Jio and took to social media to trend #BoycottJio.

#JioUsers should be ready for more surprised to come. This is usual marketing strategy. Give free first and make them addicted and start charging them later
