Kurla - The Eid festival turned out to be a very low-key affair because of the impact of the demonetisation drive.

Banks were closed for three consecutive days from Saturday. The cash crunch was the biggest problem that affected the celebrations of Eid-e-Milad in the city, with people seen standing in long queues outside ATMs.

Servers at many ATMs were down, causing further inconvenience. Local resident Shaan Sheikh told Mumbai Live, "I have been standing in the line for the last one and half hours and the moment I was about to step in to get my cash, the ATM server went down. I don't have money to celebrate the festival."
There were many people sailing in the same boat as Shaan.
