LPG price hiked for the fourth time; Domestic cylinder to cost INR 25 more

The price of domestic cooking gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been hiked by INR 25 per cylinder from Monday, March 1.

The price revision comes on March 1 as LPG rates are revised on the first day of every month. The fourth upward revision in just four weeks has made the cooking gas refills dearer by INR 125 each for households.

After the latest price hike, a 14.2 kilogram domestic LPG cylinder will cost INR 819 in Mumbai. If you live in Delhi, you will now have to shell out INR 819 in Delhi, up from INR 794.

Meanwhile, the new price in Kolkata is INR 845, which is the highest among the four major metros.

Moreover, in Chennai the cylinder now costs INR 835, whereas in Hyderabad, it is INR 871.50 as opposed to INR 821.50 a day earlier.

In February, the price of domestic LPG was hiked by INR 100 in a total of three revisions. It was first increased on February 4 by INR Rs 25, then by INR 50 on February 14 and on February 25 by INR 25.

Usually, the rates of non-subsidised LPG cylinders are reviewed on a monthly basis and any alterations are implemented on the first day of every month. Cooking gas rates vary in different parts across the country due to variation in local taxes.
