India's largest electric vehicle charging station inaugurated in Navi Mumbai

As per reports, the EV charging station will be operational 24x7 and can be used for both two and four wheelers. Visitors willing to use the service can access the same through the ChargeGrid app

Maharashtra State Industry Minister, Subhash Desai, in a recently held event, inaugurated the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai, and mentioned that the fuel price across the country is skyrocketing with every passing day and that the common man cannot afford this increase. As an alternative, the government has decided to promote electric vehicles and keeping this initiative in mind, the state government has decided to provide charging stations in the city will be useful for people owning or willing to own electric vehicles. 

As per reports, the sub-centre of the EV charging station has been planned in Airoli's Sector 13. The newly inaugurated station can be used for two wheeler and four wheeler vehicles, and has 21 AC/DC EV chargers of which four  are 15 to 50 kW capacity DC fast chargers and the remaining 17 are 3.5 to 7.5 kW AC chargers.

Sharing more information, Minister Desai said that such stations would meet the future demands and should be encourages. Calling this the need of the hour, he said that considering the increasing fuel prices, electric vehicles would serve to be excellent alternatives and the state government of Maharashtra will continue adding more EV stations across the state.

Besides the government officials, the event was attended by firm's Executive Director Maxon Lewis, Director Daryl Dias, Sujay Jain, Mahavir Lunawat among others.

Reports reveal that this is the largest charging station in India which will be opertional round the clock. Visitors willing to use the service can access the same through the ChargeGrid app which makes it secure. Moreover, the firm is also focused towards manufacturing 4,000 AC chargers per month.

Besides this, the planning for the sub-centre is underway and to expedite the process, CIDCO has transferred 3,000 sq m of land to the state government. The project will be developed by MIDC and the proposed centre will include several amenities too. 

Meanwhile, the government, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.  announced Maharashtra Electric Vehicles policy which has been the amendment to the one announced in 2018. The same was released by Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Ashish Singh and state environment minister Aaditya Thackeray and others.
