It has been reported that personal information of approximately 6 lakh HDFC Bank customers has allegedly been leaked on the Dark Web. However, HDFC Bank has issued a clarification, stating that no data has leaked from their database and that the personal information of its customers is safe.

In a Twitter post, HDFC Bank Cares stated that "there is no data leak at HDFC Bank and our systems have not been breached or accessed in any unauthorized manner." The bank remains confident in their systems but emphasizes that the matter of their customers' data security is taken very seriously.

According to Privacy Affairs, HDFC Bank customers' samples were posted on a hacker forum, and the posted data appears to be genuine. The data allegedly includes full names, email addresses, physical addresses, and sensitive financial data. Cyber-criminals allegedly posted the data for sale on a popular hacker forum and provided data samples while demanding money for the full database.

The criminals claim that the hack was allegedly obtained just recently, in early March 2023, and contains data from May 2022 to March 2023. However, HDFC Bank has reiterated that their systems have not been breached or accessed in any unauthorized manner and that their customers' personal information is safe.

Several Twitter users have reported facing outages, failed transfers, and scam messages on the official HDFC Bank mobile app. There has also been a surge in spam bank text messages in recent times.

HDFC Bank continues to assure its customers that their personal information is safe and secure. The bank remains vigilant and committed to protecting its customers' data security. Customers are advised to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity immediately.
