Fuel prices slashed; check rates in Mumbai and other cities

Rates have been reduced across the country and vary from state to state depending on the local incidence of taxation (VAT). In three reductions, petrol price has come down by 61 paise per litre and diesel by 60 paise.

The prices of petrol and diesel today, March 30, were slashed for the third time within a week by state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs).

According to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, petrol price was cut by 22 paise per litre and diesel by 23 paise per litre.

After the deduction in fuel rates, the petrol in Mumbai is being sold at INR 96.98/ litre from INR 97.19, while diesel rates were reduced to INR 87.96 from INR 88.20.

Meanwhile, in the national capital, the petrol price stands at INR 90.56 per litre and a litre of diesel is available for INR 80.87.

Cumulatively in these three reductions, petrol price has come down by 61 paise per litre and diesel by 60 paise.

Fuel prices were reduced for the first time in six months on March 24, and thereafter on March 25 as well after international oil prices fell on the prospect of speedy recovery in consumption getting clouded by the second wave of COVID-19 cases.

Diesel prices in other major cities are:

Kolkata – INR 83.75

Chennai – INR 85.88

Noida – INR 81.33

Bengaluru – INR 85.75

Hyderabad – INR 88.20

Jaipur - INR 89.35

Lucknow – INR 81.27

Patna – INR 86.12

The petrol and diesel rates are usually revised on a daily basis in line with benchmark international prices and foreign exchange rates.
