Fuel prices rise again; Petrol scales new record in Mumbai

There has been a steady increase in the prices of petrol and diesel since January 6 this year. There is a lot of activity all over the world regarding the coronavirus, due to which there is a spurt in crude oil prices and affects domestic fuel rates.

Petrol and diesel prices has hit new record highs after it rose for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, January 27. Petrol has gone up by 24 paise in Mumbai, 24 paise in Kolkata, 22 paise in Chennai and 25 paise in Delhi.

According to Indian Oil's website, petrol prices in Delhi have crossed INR 86, while in Mumbai, they are close to INR 93. The prices across nation are breaking their own record every day.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, January 26, petrol price was hiked by 34 paise in the city. Whereas, petrol price was hiked by 35 paise in Delhi, 34 paise in Kolkata and 31 paise in Chennai.

In Mumbai, diesel prices touched a record high of INR 83.30 a litre, while in Delhi, diesel is being sold at INR 76.48 per litre. In Kolkata, diesel is priced at INR 80.08 and in Chennai at INR 81.71.

There has been a steady increase in the prices of petrol and diesel since January 6 this year. There is a lot of activity all over the world regarding the coronavirus, due to which there is a spurt in crude oil prices. This is affecting the prices of domestic petrol and diesel. However, in the coming days, there is little hope of getting relief.

Petrol and diesel prices are revised on a daily basis in line with benchmark international price and foreign exchange rates.
