Since 2011, the Foundation Day of the Election Commission of India has been celebrated as 'National Voters' Day' on January 25 across the country. Dedicated to the voters of the country, various activities are organised to increase voter participation in the election process. This year's state level 'National Voters' Day' will be celebrated for two days on January 24 and 25 in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra, Jaihind College and District Election Office, Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban.
State Election Commissioners Praneet Het and Nilesh Singhit participated along with Dr. in the first day program organised at Jai Hind Mahavidyalaya, Churchgate, Mumbai. Santosh Pathare, Prakash Kute, Vikas Patil, Sandeep Sawant, Nirmohi Phadke, Abhijeet Deshpande will be present.
On the first day, awards will be given to officials and representatives of social organisations who performed better in election offices across the state. Awards will also be distributed to the winners of advertisement making, slogan and poster competitions organised by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer during the year. The mascot of the Chief Electoral Officer office will also be unveiled.
The voter awareness song prepared by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer for the Lok Sabha elections to be held in April will be launched on the same day. On the occasion of National Voters' Day, voter awareness street plays, exhibition of posters and other materials and games have been organised. Programs like dance performance of voter awareness songs, distribution of voter identity cards to new voters, oath of voter allegiance, publication of voter awareness activity booklet etc. will be celebrated.
