A 43-year-old pedestrian was injured after a reversing Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) electric bus allegedly lost control and crashed into several parked vehicles in mumbai's Bhandup area on Wednesday morning, July 8.

The accident occurred at around 8:30 am near Konkan Nagar. According to preliminary information, the driver of PMI-operated BEST bus number 4047, which runs on routes A-425 (Yari Road–Konkan Nagar) and A-32 (Yari Road–Goregaon West), was attempting to make a right turn when the vehicle unexpectedly moved in reverse.

The bus first struck two parked motorcycles and an autorickshaw before hitting the pedestrian, identified as Atul Anand Padale. The impact reportedly trapped him between the rear of the bus and a large tree planter.

Locals and passers-by immediately rushed to help and managed to push the bus away, allowing the injured man to be rescued. A video of the incident showing the rescue efforts has since surfaced on social media.

Padale sustained blunt injuries to both thighs and suffered heavy bleeding. He was taken to M.T. Agarwal Hospital for treatment. Officials said his condition was not immediately known.

Police and emergency responders reached the scene soon after the accident and began rescue operations. A case is being registered at Bhandup police station, while authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the incident.

The accident is the latest in a string of crashes involving BEST buses, raising fresh concerns about the safety of Mumbai's public transport fleet.

In June, a BEST bus in Dadar rammed into multiple vehicles and pedestrians, killing a 28-year-old Swiggy delivery executive and injuring six others. Earlier this month, two more incidents involving BEST buses were reported. In one case, a bus rolled down a slope and damaged two parked motorcycles. In another, a BEST bus collided with a taxi while turning into the Colaba depot.
