Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) decided to cut Mumbai’s water supply by 10 per cent on November 15. However, the same will carry on till next year. Earlier in a review meeting, BMC officials decided that the water cut will continue till June 2019. 

However, as of now, the water cut share will remain only 10 per cent. With this, BMC will have enough water till June end. Currently, the seven lakes outside Mumbai which provide drinking water to the city has only 69 per cent water stock. Earlier in 2017, the water stock was 86 per cent in the lakes.

As of now, the seven lakes possess 9.9 lakh million litres (69.05 per cent) water while in 2017, it was 12.19 lakh million litres (86.29 per cent). The existing water in the lakes will be enough for 213 days or till the end of June next year.
