Recording the third-highest single-day jump on Thursday, the tally of Mumbai reached 25,500 with 1,382 new cases. Throughout the day, the city also recorded 41 fatalities for the second consecutive day. With this, the death toll due to coronavirus in Mumbai has been pushed to 882.

Of the people that succumbed to coronavirus on Thursday, 24 were men and 17 were women. Out of which, 23 patients had co-morbidities. Three were below 40 years, 17 were between 40 and 60 years, and 21 were above 60 years.

One of the most vulnerable hotspots in Mumbai, Dharavi reported 47 cases on Thursday, taking its tally to 1,425. The fresh cases were reported from Mukund Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Matunga Labour Camp. 

According to the analysis done by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for 23,847 COVID-19 patients, 9,299 or 39 per cent of patients were in the age group of 30 to 49. The data further added that 30 per cent of patients were between 50 and 69 years and close to 7 per cent were above 70 years. 22 per cent of patients were in the 10 to 29 age group, and the remaining 2 per cent were below 10 years.

The highest recovery rate (30-35 per cent) was witnessed in the patients up to 40 years. However, in the older age groups, the recovery rate has slipped between 15 to 22 per cent. As of now, with 6,751 persons being discharged, the city's recovery rate stands at 26 per cent.

Meanwhile, as the number of cases is increasing by the day, general practitioners, clinics, nursing homes, and so on have received a warning from the BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal. Several private hospitals and clinics have remained closed amid the coronavirus pandemic, fearing the contagion. However, the BMC chief has ordered legal action against them.
