On Saturday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported 1,510 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally of coronavirus cases in Mumbai to 38,442. On Saturday, the state reported 99 deaths due to the pandemic, of which, 54 fatalities were from Mumbai. With this, the fatality count in Mumbai has climbed to 1,227. According to the state health department, 40 of the 99 deaths were recorded in the last two days whereas the remaining fatalities occurred between May 6 to 27 but were reported late.

Of the 54 deaths on Saturday in Mumbai, 31 were men and 23 were women. 39 of these patients had co-morbidities. Meanwhile, BMC's G-North ward, which consists of Dharavi, still continues to account for the most number of cases in the city. As per civic officials, Mumbai accounts for 59 per cent of the total cases and 56 per cent of the fatalities in Maharashtra.

Alongside, 1,084 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals across Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, taking the state's tally of recovered patients to 28,081. In Mumbai, 356 patients were discharged after they recovered from coronavirus, taking the total number of recovered patients in the city to 16,364.

As per state health department data, 4,33,557 people have been tested so far in the state. Moreover, 5,51,660 people are presently in-home quarantine and 72,681 are in institutional quarantine.
