As it was pouring in the city, and trains on the central line were off schedule, there was chaos spread. During this, 29-year-old Jasmine Shabbir Shaikh delivered her baby boy on Dombivali station on Wednesday, July 3.
A resident of Titwala, Jasmine was accompanied by her brother-in-law Suleiman Shaikh to reach Cama Hospital near CSMT.
As soon as they boarded the train, Jasmine went into labour at Dombivali station and the commuters along with Government Railway Police (GRP) officers helped her in her delivery on Platform number 3 at 7:21 am. They were also accompanied by two nurses who were commuting. Dombivli's 1 Rupee clinic doctors reached the spot after the infant was delivered and helped them cut the umbilical cord.
Jasmine and her baby were later admitted to Dombivli's Shastri Nagar Hospital and are now in stable condition. Jasmine's in-laws thanked the railway authorities and commuters who helped her when she was in need.
