In a horrifying incident reported on Sunday, October 23, 2022, a labourer from Vikhroli, aged 31, fell from an under-construction building and passed away due to injuries. The incident was reported in the morning on Sunday and the deceased has been identified as Ajijul Ahmed Ansari, a resident of Mira Road.

Reports state that Ansari was working for Shraddha Builders, at 22-storey under-construction building, which is being constructed in Vikhroli’s Tagore Nagar. The father of two fell as the safety belt was not provided by the firm. He was known for his work in fitting tiles and applying plaster. Details regarding the safety concerns were given by his cousin who was also working at the same location as a labourer.

Police has registered a case negligence against the Shafiq Shaikh and the safety engineer Ketan Parab. Official information regarding the complaint was provided by Suvidha Chavan, SI at the Vikhroli police station. Authorities also added that the incident happened at 9:30 in the morning as Ansari fell I the duct area after losing his balance. His cousin Mandal was not aware about the floor from where he fell. Contractors Shaikh and Parab had not arrived at the location yet, however, labourers reached there by 8:45am and apparently Ansari was working on a higher floor.

Sharing more information, Mandal said that a few workers heard a loud noise, rushed to the spot, and found Ansari lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital and was dead on arrival.
