In a tragic incident, least four people died on the spot after a car collided with a bus on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in the Palghar district on Tuesday, January 31.

According to the police, the incident occurred in Dahanu area when the car was en route to Surat, Gujarat from Mumbai. The driver of a speeding high-end car smashed into a road divider and collided head-on with a luxury bus near Kasa bridge in Palghar's Dahanu area during pre-dawn hours on Tuesday on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway.

Reports further stated that the accident took place at 3-3:30 am near Kasa bridge, Dahanu. The driver of Skoda lost control over the vehicle near Mahalaxmi temple at Charoti, smashed the car into the median cut and collided head-on with a luxury bus. All occupants of the car, including the driver, were killed on the spot. The car is believed to have switched the lanes.

They deceased have been identified as Mohammad Hafeez (36), Ibrahim Dawood (60), Ashia Collector (57) and Ismail Desai (42) and were the resident of Bardoli in Surat, officials stated.

It is pertinent to note that this is the second accident in and around Charoti this year. On January 8, three members of a Nalasopara family, including an infant were killed, when their car crashed into a container truck near the Mahalaxmi temple.
