Hub of the Hindi film industry, Mumbai is not only home to some of the most acclaimed Bollywood stars but is also a popular shooting location. Some of the most iconic locations in the city have featured in Bollywood films. Here’s a list of a few of them.

Dhobi Ghat

Located in Mahalaxmi, the opening sequence of the famous movie Munnabhai MBBS was shot here. That’s not all, some scenes from Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat were recorded here too. This open-air laundry location, in south Mumbai, hosts a thriving community. A meticulous process has been put into place to ensure a smooth functioning.

Colaba Causeway

Certain parts of the Aamir Khan starrer `Talaash was recorded here. Apart from Colaba Causeway, many other iconic city locations featured were Charni Road and Lower Parel. One can find a range of shops and hawkers that sell some of the most quintessential items.

Madh Island

Innumerable Bollywood movies are shot at this scenic location. From the recent Laxmii Bomb to the Shootout at Wadala, the list goes on. Apart from movies, many television shows also film their episodes at this location.

Marine Drive

An endless list of Hindi movies such as Wake Up Sid, Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na, Dhoom amongst others has used this iconic backdrop. The boulevard, breeze and some historic looking restaurants and buildings, has made this a favourite amongst shooting locations.

Vasai Fort

Movies, as well as songs for Bollywood films, have been shot here. Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Josh, Ram Gopal Verma’s Aag have made use of this location. It is also said to have featured in a popular band, Coldplay’s song “Hymn For The Weekend”.
