Over the past five years, a total of 77 employees of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), including officers, have been suspended following arrests in corruption cases. In 2025 alone, 20 employees have been suspended in connection with corruption cases.

Action has been taken in a total of 68 cases. According to civic sources, the BMC administration is firmly committed to keeping the municipal corporation free from corruption. Strict action will continue to be taken against officers and employees if any misconduct or abuse of power is uncovered.

Cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Bureau

Senior officials stated that the civic administration maintains transparency in all its dealings, works according to rules, and takes a strict stand against corruption. The municipal corporation fully cooperates with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the Government of Maharashtra in actions taken under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

In cases registered by the ACB, if a court finds an employee guilty, strict action such as immediate dismissal or removal from service is taken. Such employees not only lose their jobs but also forfeit benefits like pension and gratuity.

They are also barred from applying for jobs in any government or semi-government institution in the future.
