According to sources, Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray has informed that the demarcation of Koliwadas in Mumbai city and its suburbs is underway and the demarcation of the remaining Koliwadas will be completed expeditiously.
Moreover, a meeting was held with regards to the same in the presence of Environment Minister and Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District Aaditya Thackeray and Guardian Minister of Mumbai City District Aslam Shaikh. The meeting held at Sahyadri State Guest House was attended by Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, Principal Secretary Environment Manisha Mhaiskar, Mumbai City Collector Rajiv Nivatkar, Suburban Collector Milind Borikar and senior officials of the concerned departments.
In this meeting, the Shiv Sena directed all the concerned departments like Coastal Zone Authority, Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Environment Department to work in coordination in view of the situation. However, according to the CMFRI report, various areas related to fisheries are yet to be included in the demarcation. The demarcation done by the revenue department has been published and the suggestions and objections received in this regard are to be reported to the revenue department.
On the other hand, the coastal road project at the Haji Ali coast has worried nearly 600 fisherfolk as it has started reclaiming the Lotus Jetty overlooking the Haji Ali Dargah. The Haji Ali Dargah is a mosque and a dargah located on an islet off the coast of Worli in the southern part of Mumbai. As a consequence of the coastal project, in the last three days, fishermen were asked to leave their boats and vacate the place.
