As per recent reports, Adani Transmission Ltd (ATL) has stated that it will be able to execute a transmission line and substation project at the suburban Vikhroli which will enhance the power supply by 1,000 MW in the city of Mumbai, by the end of next year.

After reviewing the GIS sub-centre project, CM Thackeray had earlier taken serious note of the issue. Moreover, in view of the recent power outage in Mumbai, the CM is said to be reviewing various projects related to the power sector. According to sources, a meeting was held at Varsha's residence under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister in connection with the Vikhroli project. MP Vinayak Raut, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ajoy Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary Ashish Singh, Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary Energy Asim Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahatransport Company Dinesh Waghmare were also present on the occasion.

These capacity enhancement projects are touted to create an additional transmission capacity of 1,000 MW each, thereby easing the existing transmission corridors. It includes the Kharghar-Vikhroli 400/220 kV EHV transmission line project, which will add a 1,000 MW power supply corridor and will also be Mumbai's first 400 KV Substation.
