Air India has finally managed to sell three of its flats located in Jupiter building at Cumballa Hill in South Mumbai to the Maharashtra government. The Accountant General of Maharashtra has purchased these flats for ₹24.33 crore. The reserve price for these flats in the previous auctions was above ₹8 crore each. These flats were put up for auction in 2018 but none of the previous auctions could get buyers for Air India.
The national carrier has been trying to sell many of its properties in Mumbai to raise funds to repay their debts amounting to ₹48,000 crore. The Accountant General’s office (AG’s office) of Maharashtra was looking for properties in South Mumbai and they had shown interest in these flats.
According to the documents accessed, the property was registered with the sub-registrar on March 18. The three flats measuring 127.50 square metres were sold by Air India to the Principal Accountant General-I.
