After the Mumbai police, the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) cops in Maharashtra have banned the use of drones and some other flying objects in areas under their jurisdiction till January 20, 2023, citing security threat from them.

The MBVV police issued an order to this effect on Tuesday, November 22 till January 20.

It is pertinent to note that this development came to avoid any untoward incident, officials added. It further said that restrictions were necessary to "prevent probable sabotage" in Mumbai.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ) Prakash Gaikwad stated that the use of "drones, para gliders, remote controlled micro light aircraft" is totally prohibited in areas under the MBVV police's control, it said.

The decision has been taken to ensure safety of towns coming under the MBVV jurisdiction (outside Mumbai), said the order.

However, these flying objects can be used wherever permission has been granted by the MBVV police, it added.

For those unversed, Mumbai Police issued a fresh order prohibiting the use of flying of drones and other remote-controlled or micro-lighting aircraft in the city for 30 days.

It is also to be mentioned that the order period covers the anniversary of the 26/11 deadly terror attack in Mumbai. A terrorist attack took place in Mumbai on November 26, 2008. This year the terrorist attack in Mumbai will complete 14 years. As many as 166 people were killed in the 2008 terror attacks in the city.
