The pavement outside the western entrance of Bandra Railway Station collapsed only 10 days after it was repaired. The station recently marked its 160th anniversary. The repair was done to improve the area outside the parking lot and make it more level for pedestrians.
Zoru Bhathena, an environmental activist, shared the issue on his X account (@zoru75). He posted a thread with dates and photos. He said the tiles were dug up on July 12, even though they were already reinstalled in 2023.
As per reports, BMC carried out the repair on July 18. The restoration work was completed but the tiles were fixed in a careless manner. By July 22, the pavement had started to break apart. Commuters faced problems walking through the area, especially during heavy rain. Water collected in puddles where the tiles had come loose.
Bhathena blamed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in his post for doing poor work that did not last even ten days. Several users on social media supported the criticism. Some even raised concerns about possible corruption in the repair work.

Users commented with sarcasm, saying things like “Smelling nice corruption” and “Kaam Chalte Rehna Chaahiye.” Others said this is how jobs are created at BMC.
The BMC was tagged and contacted by several users. However, there has been no official reply or solution from the authorities.
