After a long wait, N M Joshi and Naigaon’s BDD chawls will go for redevelopment. Naigaon’s BDD chawl will be redeveloped by Shapoorji Pallonji company while N M Joshi Marg’s BDD chawl will be redeveloped by L&T company. This information was given by MHADA’s vice president Sambhaji Zende who added that the work will begin in a month's time.
MHADA had called for international tenders for the redevelopment of BDD chawls. But there was no response and so tender process was pushed ahead for three times. During the third tender process, Shapoorji Pallonji and L&T got selected.
“Developers will start building a tower where we will get an open space and where there is no space, we will build a transit camp and will shift the residents,” said Zende.
