Interestingly, the 50 scrapped buses will be sold to self-help groups especially women self-help groups instead of selling it to the scarps. The chassis of these buses have been made by Ashok Leyland, which is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and their body has been made by Anthony Garages.

These busses will be majorly deployed in commercial areas like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Nariman Point and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Notably, there was speculation that BEST will discontinue the double-decker buses, however, the BEST officials confirmed that they are scraping some but not stoping it. The buses were introduced in 1937, and are inconvenient for kids and senior citizens as it just has one entry and exit point which causes problems while boarding and alighting.
