Sick of drivers spitting out tobacco while driving the bus? Those red and brown stained spots must make you want to puke. Good news! BEST administration in collaboration with Rusan Pharma had organised a ‘Tobacco Free BEST’ campaign. Due to this campaign, many drivers have quit the use of tobacco and have started living a healthy life. A felicitation ceremony was held at Wadala West Depot On the eve of ‘World No Tobacco Day'.

Bus drivers were made aware of the health hazards of tobacco consumption and they were given medical help as well. They took this campaign in a positive stride and tried to cleanse their life. This initiative was launched in 2014 and it concluded today. Rusan Pharma targeted 25 bus depots. Around 2000 employees have quit tobacco. On Tuesday, 200 employees were felicitated for their self-control and dedication to improve. Along with those who quit, officers who helped the employees to quit were felicitated with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.Rusan Pharma targeted 25 bus depots. Around 2000 employees have quit tobacco. BEST want their employees to be in their best health and they want the environment to be clean. After the administration initiated this campaign, around 500 BEST employees quit tobacco by 2016 and around 1500 employees joined the healthy brigade.

This campaign was very useful and it’s commendable that the bus drivers took an actual effort to improve and get rid-off unhealthy addictions. We can now expect the buses to be less stained and automobiles moving around buses to not be covered with red slug!

Stay healthy, Mumbai.
