A thirty-year-old youth died after drowning in the Mandvi lake near the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Nagar Bhavan government building in Bhayandar West. The fire department of the municipality pulled the dead body out of the water in the presence of the Bhayandar police officials.
The deceased youth has been identified as Amit Das (30). He was a resident of a building near Phatak Road in Bhayandar West. The fire department of the municipal corporation received a complaint that a person had drowned in the water around 7:30 pm on Monday. Accordingly, firemen rushed to the spot and pulled Amit Das out of the water. But by then he had died.
Fire officer Prakash Borade has informed that it is not yet known whether the youth died while swimming or it was suicide. Mandvi lake is adjacent to the municipal government office. Therefore, an atmosphere of fear has spread in the area due to the occurrence of such an incident.
