Mumbai – All civic employees will now have to mark their attendance at work using the biometric attendance system.

The BMC is planning to implement this system from 15 April. The online registration for this initiative has been completed on 15 March and employeess who do not register themselves online may not get their salaries from the month of May.

The BMC administration has taken a tough stand against employees who used to take benefit of the administrative leniency and skip their work by signing the attendance register. The General Administration department has decided to implement the e-attendance system and had launched online registration drive for biometric attendance by linking it to Aadhar cards.

Out of the total  1.07 lakh employees with the BMC, only 50,000 employees have registered their biometrics online till the end of date for online registration. Of the registered employees, accounts of 39,071 employees have been activated. The entries of remaining registered employees have been sent back to them for technical verification.

Till date, law department, commissioner’s office, and the state secretariat have installed the biometric machines in their offices and 883 employees register their attendance using this system on a daily basis.

Instructions to all 24 regional offices and 70 departments have been issued regarding implementation of biometric attendance system in the state. Though the last date for registration has passed, employees can still register their names, failing which they could miss their salaries for the month of May, according to Sudhir Naik, assistant commissioner of General Administration department.

Where can you get yourself registered?

The employees can register themselves for biometric attendance at www.mhmcgm.attendance.gov.in. They will be required to furnish the details of their Aadhar card numbers, mail ID, mobile number etc.

All the departments of the civic administration have been instructed to purchase biometric attendance systems.
