BMC's MCGM 24x7 application will assist you in finding public parking lots near you

In order to assist the people to find public parking lots (PPLs) with ease, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started a facility on the MCGM 24x7 application. With this, people can find the nearest public parking lot at a finger's reach as the mobile application will guide the people and provide them with directions.

Along with this, the application will also provide information on its timings, parking fees and types of vehicles that can be parked. The PPLs that can be located include the BMC-owned ones along with the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) depots.

Earlier, the municipal corporation had announced that they will impose a fine ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 on vehicles which are parked near or outside the ‘pay and park’ facility across Mumbai. The objective of the initiative was to decongest roads and encourage the use of PPLs.

Currently, BMC has 146 PPLs across Mumbai which consist of 26 multi-storeyed PPLs that have a total parking capacity of around 38,000 to 40,000 vehicles.

On the other hand, to add to the city's parking options, BEST recently passed a proposal to allow its depots for parking private vehicles at nominal rates.
