The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be undertaking projects to restore water supply in Ward E, comprising Byculla and Nagpada.
The work will be carried out from 10 am on May 28 to 10 am on May 29. During this 24-hour period, there will be no water supply in some areas of Colaba, Fort, Mohammed Ali Road, Dongri, Byculla and Nagpada.
Under this project, an old 1200 mm diameter water pipeline on Navnagar and Dockyard Road will be replaced with a new one of the same size. In addition, the old 900 mm diameter valve on compartment 1 of Bhandarwada reservoir will be removed and a new 900 mm diameter valve will be installed in its place.
The civic body has requested the residents of the affected areas to store enough water for their needs before the planned water cut. During the closed period, water should be used sparingly.
After the pipeline work, the affected areas are likely to experience low pressure and turbid water supply for the next two days. As a precautionary measure, the administration has appealed to the citizens to filter and boil water before consumption and cooperate with the BMC during this period.
