After Maharashtra government announced seventh Pay commission in January, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Ajoy Mehta on Tuesday announced the interim payment of 20 per cent in the arrears for pending 37 months.
BMC has also declared a 10 per cent hike in the salaries of their employees. This will be implemented from February 1 and will cost the civic body around ₹3,000 crore. The civic body will pay its employee their increase pay through its revenue account.
Along with this, the BMC declared group insurance for the families of the employee working in the civic body. Earlier in 2017, the health insurance scheme was stopped by the BMC after allegations of false claims.

Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar met group leaders from some political parties in order to discuss the seventh pay commission.
