It has been reported that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that they have begun addressing locations in Mumbai where water-logging is an issue. They claimed that the work will be completed before the monsoon.

On Thursday, February 3, the BMC Budget 2022 was presented by the civic chief Iqbal Singh Chahal who remarked steps to tackle waterlogging that include plans to acquire a Quick Response Vehicle equipped with dewatering pumps, jetting system, rodding system, CCTV camera, metal detector, concrete breaker and blower system, reports stated.

Apart from this, they look to acquire nine Compact Recycler Machines for cleaning manholes and stormwater drains in Mumbai’s congested areas. A vehicle each will be given in every ward between A to G/North that includes Colaba, Nariman Point, Dadar, Mahim and Matunga, narratives cited.

Based on accounts, in addition to this, work on Mogra and Mahul pumping stations will commence soon for which the tender process is underway. Moreover, the BMC budget listed schemes to prevent waterlogging along the Eastern Express Highway.

The body is setting up an 11,000 cu/mtr pump along and rising floodgates at Chunnabhatti, which will be commissioned before this monsoon, highlighted reports. With flooding being a pertinent issue every year during monsoons, locals can often be seen complaining about the woes they face.
