Mumbai has been popularly known as the city which never sleeps, and now will also be known as the city which parties all night.

All thanks to Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray, for his ambitious plan, that some parts of the city will now function 24x7, and recently BMC also has issued a circular permitting rooftop restaurants in the city. Civic chief of the city Ajoy Mehta has given a green signal to the restaurants located on the rooftops of malls and residential hotels.

Talking about the same, a senior civic official said the announcement will bring into immediate effect, and interested businesses can submit the proposals from Thursday. The application for the rooftop restaurant permissions will be the same as other licenses. However, in case of any issues ever, BMC will have the right to revoke the permissions.

However, the ruling government of the state, BJP, is unhappy with the decision and suggests that the restaurants shouldn’t be anywhere within 30 meters of residential structures.

The guidelines proposed by the BMC suggest that the terrace should be strictly open air, without umbrella or monsoon shed or tarpaulin cover and permits construction of a grilled fence around the terraces. Further, only serving of food is permitted and the policy does not approve cooking on the terraces.
