Post-BMC elections, corporators were expecting dustbins in order to distribute it in societies but to their dismay, there were no dustbins left with the contractor. When corporators raised this question in a standing committee meeting, Vijay Singal, Additional Municipal Commissioner (AMC) of BMC said that the tender process to hire a new contractor will take place within eight to ten days.

As per BMC officials, newly elected corporators were to get 240 and 140 litres (big and small) dustbins but there were no extra dustbins left as they were distributed before the announcement of the code of conduct.

Shiv Sena corporator Rajul Patel of K/West ward said in a meeting that it has been eight months since the elections, but no dustbins were provided to them. He added that they should come up with a list of top ten corporators who usurped the dustbins for their own profit.

During a meeting, when a proposal for 1550 stainless steel dustbins came up, BJP corporator Prabhakar Shinde said that the BMC should first provide the dustbins as residents are facing problems with segregating the waste.

Sena corporators Mangesh Satamkar suggested that the BMC should allow ward offices to opt for spot quotation which will allow the corporators to buy dustbins and distribute the same in their areas. BJP group leader Manoj Kotak too demanded to publish the list of corporators who goofed up by taking more than two dustbins for their ward. He also suggested that the civic officials should distribute the dustbins rather than handing it over to the corporators.
