Mumbai, an overpopulated city with the problem of space crunch, faces major parking issues. In order to resolve the same, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started working for India’s first Parking Authority.

The civic body has appointed a new panel of urban planners to map the parking lots across all 24 wards in the city. The city planners are in contact with various officials from different wards and they will work together in the coming month to create a database of on-street and off-street public parking spaces. They will also survey the traffic density in those areas.

The mapping and the traffic survey is expected to get whole by next month. After all the data and information is collected from all 24 wards, further work for the parking authority will be initiated.
