After successful Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) workers strike, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees are ready to initiate a strike with their demands. The civic body workers are now demanding a new salary agreement.

While talking to Mumbai Live, Union Leader Shashank Rao informed that he will contest in the strike along with the BMC workers in February 2019. Rao further said that the salary agreement of the civic body workers is pending since past five years. BMC workers have protested several times demanding the wage agreement but the administration neglected their demands.

More than 32,000 BEST workers went on nine-day long strike pressing their various demands against the administration under the leadership of Union leader Shashank Rao. The strike ended after Bombay High Court intervened in the matter.
