After the rule of not parking vehicles within 500 m radius of Public Parking Lots (PPL) rolled out, officials have collected ₹5.19 lakh fine from illegally parked vehicles. People have been displeased by the move and there had been protests in Worli and other locations in Mumbai.

Recently, Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar's vehicle was parked in a 'no parking zone' in Vile Parle's Malvani Aswad Restaurant. The Mumbai traffic police informed that an e-challan was issued against the Mayor’s official vehicle. However, the amount of penalty is not known. Moreover, it is not confirmed whether the Mayor has cleared the penalty imposed or not.

At J.K. Sawant Marg, in Dadar near Plaza theatre, there was a 'No Parking' sign with the BMC vehicles that collect garbage parked there. Midst of all this, the question that still remains for Mumbaikars is whether the move comes with certain exclusivity?

Sandeep Kadam, Deputy Engineer of North Zone said,

There will soon be alternatives for the parking of BMC garbage trucks and the issue will be resolved soon, but the question that remians is that why did the authorities implement the law before listing out the alternatives?

However, after several complaints to the authorities, the BMC garbage trucks were removed from the spot.
