The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday demolished an unauthorised portion of Post House studio in Andheri. Civic officials said that the recording studio was operating from the basement of Satyadev Plaza on Veera Desai Road. However, the basement space was meant for storage as per building plans.

The studio was served a closure notice last year and the matter reached the court. The court ordered a stay that was vacated eight days ago. The owner of the studio had challenged the notice and acquired a stay order from the High Court.

Assistant Commissioner of West, Prashant Gaikwad informed that the unauthorised construction was razed in collaboration with the Mumbai Police. The demolition work involved 10 police personnel and 15 municipality employees under the guidance of Circle-4 Deputy Commissioner Kiran Achrekar.

The unauthorised part of the Post House Studio was set up in an area of 3,000 sq km. The studio offered sound recording, animation, VFX, visual promos and audio-visual editing facilities.
