BMC razes unauthorised houses

Kandivali - BMC started a demolition drive at Mhada depot in Samta Nagar, Kandivali (East), demolishing unauthorised homes on Thursday.
The affected residents are an angry lot, with several complaining that they had been living here for over 30 years. The police had to be called in to calm them and handle the situation. Residents alleged that BMC officers are in cahoots with builders and contractors. An NGO has approached to help the residents and file a petition in the Mumbai High Court. However, we learn this drive was undertaken by the BMC on the court's orders itself.
