Residents decide not to immerse Ganesh idol, BMC repair the roads

Residents decide not to immerse Ganesh idol, BMC repair the roads
SHARES

Mumbai which is a cosmopolitan city celebrates various festivals with fervour and enthusiasm and the BMC leaves no chance to spoil the mood. Every Ganesh Chaturthi, the BMC overlook the potholes and Ganpati mandals welcome Bappa on bumpy roads. It is the same when mandals bid adieu to their favourite deity.

This year was no different for Ganesh Mandals who welcomed Bappa on bumpy roads. This lackadaisical attitude of the BMC was visible in Vikhroli’s Park Site no. 1 road which was filled with numerous potholes. Irate residents complained to the BMC to fill up the potholes prior to the Ganesh Chaturthi. Still, there was no response from the BMC. As a tradition, they welcomed their Bappa on the potholed roads. However, after seven days, they conveyed to the BMC that they would not immerse the idols until roads are repaired. The civic officials felt the need to repair the roads and the same was done within no time.

If the civic officials would not have filled up the potholes, we would not have immersed the idol. However, as now roads are repaired, we will carry out our the immersion procession
