The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has shown the inability to start the bike ambulance service along with a paramedical trained driver on the lines of Bengaluru bike ambulance. The civic body cleared that the city already has the service of state government-run 108 bike ambulance.

Mumbai has 10 state-run bike ambulances

Shiv Sena’s corporator Trushna Vishwasrao had demanded the bike ambulance service which was backed by the then opposition leader Devendra Amberkar. Accordingly, on an experimental basis, the state government started the service of 108 bike ambulance and brought in 10 bike ambulances in the city. In the first phase, areas such as Bhandup, Malad, Dharavi, Nagpada, Charkop, Goregaon, Thakur Village, Kalina and Khar Danda received the service of bike ambulances. 


These civic-run hospitals have ambulances...

Civic-run hospitals such as KEM, Nair, Sion, and Cooper have ambulances on a rental basis. Likewise, Jogeshwari's Trauma Care Hospital has the service of 108 bike ambulance. However, out of 16 civic-run hospitals, Krantiveer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Hospital and Bandra’s Bhabha Hospital’s ambulances are worn out and soon they will be sold in scrap.
