This summer, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to open three new swimming pools. These pools will be located in Andheri (East), Worli, and Vikhroli and will open on March 6. They are part of BMC's initiative to provide more recreational facilities to the public.

Earlier, BMC has owned and operated swimming pools in various locations, such as Shivaji Park (Dadar), Dahisar, Kandivali, Chembur, and Ghatkopar. However, the Ghatkopar pool has been non-functional since 2016.

In response to the closure, BMC has been constructing six new pools at different locations, including Chacha Nehru Garden in Malad, Worli Hill Reservoir, Kondivita in Andheri East, Indira Gandhi Entertainment Park in Andheri West, Tagore Nagar in Vikhroli, and Gyandhara Garden in Dahisar.

Three of these pools, located in Dahisar, Andheri West, and Malad, have already been inaugurated. The remaining three pools in Andheri (East), Worli, and Vikhroli are set to open this summer.

Starting on March 6, interested individuals can register online on a 'First Come, First Entry' basis through the BMC website. The swimming hours for men at all three pools are from 6 am to 11 am and 6 pm to 10 pm. The yearly membership for the general category is priced at INR 8,836.

There are special provisions for women, children, seniors, and disabled residents. A special slot for women is available from 11 am to 12 pm and 5 pm to 6 pm, with an annual membership fee of INR 6,716. Schoolchildren, senior citizens, disabled residents, and current and retired employees of BMC can avail of an annual membership for INR 4,586.
