Amidst the coronavirus crisis, the BMC has been trying to avoid overcrowding at the immersion site. In view of Ganesh Chaturthi, the L Ward of the BMC, which consists of areas like Kurla, Chandivali, Saki Naka, Tungwa and parts of Powai, took to Twitter to speak of the same.

The BMC has asked the concerned Ganesha devotees to open the accompanying link which happens to be ganeshvisarjan.in and select the immersion place and available time (slot) in L section at their convenience.

Further notifying the instructions for the immersion, the BMC has asked the devotees to come to the place of immersion at the time the registration has been done and hand over the idol to the Municipal Swayamsevak. The volunteers then will immerse the idol in a proper manner.

The 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations which are to commence from Saturday, August 22, are being celebrated this year in a low-key fashion due to the pandemic.

Furthermore, it is imperative to note that the city is expected to receive "heavy rains across isolated areas" during the weekend, as per data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Moreover, places such as Ratnagiri, Raigad, Pune and Satara are also expected to receive "heavy to very heavy rainfall" during the weekend.
